Game of Thrones, filmed in part in Ireland, has become a worldwide hit since the adaptation of George RR Martin’s books first aired eight years ago.
As well as boosting tourism in Ireland, it has featured a slew of Irish actors in prominent roles, including Aidan Gillen as Petyr Baelish, Michelle Fairley as Catelyn Stark and Ciaran Hinds as Mance Rayder.
Meanwhile Dubliner Liam Cunningham and Co. Antrim’s Conleth Hill are among those who will return for the final series in the roles of Davos Seaworth and Lord Varys respectively.
