ACCENTS aren’t always the easiest to understand, but what about those a little closer to home?
A viral video featuring three Irish men discussing the reopening of their local pub became an online sensation after it was posted to the Irish Examiner’s YouTube page.
The Top Of Coom bar in Co. Kerry, claimed to be Ireland’s highest pub, was destroyed by a fire back in 2012.
Three local men – Joe Kelly, Dan Kelleher and Johnny McCarthy – were particularly excited by its reopening.
Viewed over 500,000 times, the video of the men discussing their two-year wait for the pub’s resurrection sparked a debate online – just what were they saying?
The men’s accents dumbfounded viewers from Ireland and abroad alike, while their lively personalities won the hearts of thousands.
Mr Kelly won particular adoration after he was filmed feeding a baby lamb with a bottle, whilst sporting a particularly suave cowboy hat above his long white locks.
