Graham Linehan wins at BAFTA TV Craft Awards

GRAHAM Linehan and designer Mark Geraghty were crowned winners on a doubly successful night for the Irish at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Craft Awards on Sunday night.

Irish writer Linehan won the Best Writer, Comedy award for his work on The IT Crowd - his fifth BAFTA – at the award ceremony in London.

Geraghty received the accolade of Best Production Design for his work on the Dublin-shot Ripper Street.

Two BAFTAs were awarded to Peaky Blinders, starring Cillian Murphy: Best Director, Fiction (Otto Bathurst) and Best Photography and Lighting, Fiction (George Steel).

Steve Singleton was honoured with the Best Editing, Fiction award for his work on the Belfast-shot The Fall.

Ireland's John Conroy, a cinematographer and partner of Yvonne Keating, suffered disappointment on the night, however, after missing out on the award for Best Photography and Lighting for fictional works.

The British Academy Television Awards, which feature the acting categories, take place in London on Sunday May 18.
