A YOUNG Irish boy’s heartfelt rendition of Grace brought viewers over on The Late Late Toy Show to tears this past Friday night.
In one of the undoubted highlights of the annual festive season curtain-raiser, Denis Moroney delivered a pitch-perfect performance of the song made famous by Jim McCann.
After his performance, Denis received a warm embrace from host Ryan Tubridy before revealing his parents were currently honeymooning in New York “seven years late”.
They would no doubt have been watched on from the Big Apple though on a night where Moroney announced himself as a star in the making.
Tubridy ensured Denis knew how much both he and those watching on in the audience and on television at home appreciated his efforts, telling the youngster: "For tonight, we're all your mum and dad."
The performance did not go unnoticed on social media, with Moroney receiving a raft of positive reviews from fans who were left feeling rather emotional by his version of the Irish folk favourite.
Toy Show fans flocked to social media after the performance, to praise the talented singer.
"Aw here I'm an emotional wreck after they started playing Grace on the Late Late Toy Show as I just walked in the door,” one fan wrote. “That was my grandad's song."
"Never thought I'd ever see a 1916 song performed on the Late Late Toy Show,” another said. “And a great rendition of Grace at that."
"Wow. What a beautiful rendition of Grace by that young man on the Toy Show,” a third said.
A fourth concurred, saying: "Grace being banged out on The Late Late Toy Show, you love to see it."
"Ya gotta love the kid on the Toy Show singing "Grace,” a fifth said.
“It would melt your f**kin heart and makes ya so proud of where you're from."
