Game of Thrones reveals official start date for final season in creepy new trailer

THE OFFICIAL start date for the much-anticipated final season of Game of Thrones has been confirmed as April 14th.

The announcement came via a creepy new trailer for the fantasy series which was broadcast on HBO ahead of the premiere of the third season of True Detective.

Ominous in tone, the clip sees Jon Snow, Sansa and Arya walking through a darkly lit crypt at what we are led to believe is their ancestral home of Winterfell.

Along the way they each pass statues of long-deceased family members, including Sean Bean’s Ned Stark, who speaks from beyond the grave.

Eventually the three characters converge in front of three statues of themselves.

The presence of the three statues alongside those of their fallen family hint at a similar fate for all three – though that remains a purely speculative suggestion at this point.

What does quickly become clear, however, is that Winter is most definitely coming.

As the trailer dras to a conclusion, the crypt begins to fill with the freezing fog fans have come to associate with the show’s supernatural, zombie-like foe, The White Walkers.

A war is on the horizon and not everyone is going to make it.

And now fans know exactly when the war will begin: April 14th. Two months away.

The long wait for the conclusion of Game of Thrones is almost over.
