Game of Thrones named best TV show of the 21st century

GAME OF THRONES has been voted the best TV show of the 21st century.

Despite a poorly received final season in 2019, the HBO classic apparently still reigns supreme among viewers.

A poll ran by Digital Spy listed over 100 shows that have wowed fans since the turn of the Millennium, asking them to vote for their favourite.

Game of Thrones pipped the likes of Stranger Things, Doctor Who and Breaking Bad to top spot.

Digital Spy editor Laurence Mozafari said he wasn't surprised to see the fantasy epic take the crown.

"It's not too hard to see why Game of Thrones has resonated so strongly with the public," he said.

Below is the top 10, as voted for by fans:

  1. Game of Thrones
  2. Stranger Things
  3. Doctor Who
  4. Sherlock
  5. Breaking Bad
  6. The Great British Bake Off
  7. Killing Eve
  8. Gavin & Stacey
  9. Line of Duty
  10. Chernobyl

With a rather heavy focus on recent shows, it's probably best to take the list above with a pinch of salt, after all, not a single damn Irish show in there! Madness!

Although - given that much of the Game of Thrones series was filmed on this fine island, I think we can give ourselves little pat on the back at the very least, don't you?
