Comedian Dara O'Briain tackles the wonders of the universe for his new science show.
Wicklow comedian Dara goes from O’Briain to O’Brainy as he turns his attention to all things scientific. The presenter and stand-up comic, who studied Mathematical Physics at University College Dublin, is set to host a new BBC Two show this month — Dara O’Briain’s Science Club.
The six-part science series will feature expert guests who will take a single subject and examine it from different and unexpected angles.
“It’s for anyone who, like me, is curious about space, brains, extinction and sex and all the great ideas about how the universe works,” said Dara, who is well-known as the host of BBC’s Mock The Week and Apprentice: You’re Fired.
“And if that doesn’t grab you, we’ll show you how to measure the speed of light using cheese on toast or find your DNA with strong Polish vodka.”
Dara will be joined by materials scientist and engineer Mark Miodownik, neuroscientist Tali Sharot, oceanographer Helen Czerski and journalist Alok Jha, plus some of the most famous science ‘gods’ from around the world. There will also be special guest appearances from TV presenter James May, actress Jessica Hynes, fellow Irish comedian Ed Byrne and others, when the show begins this month.
This is Dara’s second science show for BBC Two having previously presented Stargazing Live.
