Irish film Albert Nobbs has been nominationed for the 84th Academy Awards.
Produced by Alan Moloney's award-winning Irish production company Parallel Films and supported by the Irish Film Board, it has been nominated in the Best Actress category (Glenn Close), Best Supporting Actress (Janet McTeer) and Makeup (Martial Corneville, Lynn Johnston and Matthew W. Mungle).
Based on the short story by Irish novelist George Moore, Glenn Close who co-wrote the screenplay with Booker prize winner John Banville, stars as Albert Nobbs, a woman hiding an incredible secret in order to work and survive in 19th century Ireland.
After 30 years passing as a man, Nobbs finds herself trapped in a prison of her own making. Shot in Dublin and its environs last Winter the film was premiered in September at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival.
Directed by Rodrigo Garcia, Glenn Close stars alongside Jonathon Rhys Meyers, Brendan Gleeson, Janet McTeer and Mia Wasikowska.

The 84th Academy Awards will be held on February 27.
