Evanna Lynch lands another magic role

IRISH actress Evanna Lynch is set to play Harry Houdini’s wife  in a new play about the famous illusionist brothers.

The Termonfecken-born actress, best known for her role as Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films, will play the great magician's wife and stage assistant Bess in Houdini, a  dark comedy about the lives of the American stunt-performing magicians.

Since the last Harry Potter movie was released  in 2011, Lynch has continued to act and stars in new indie teen comedy GBF, which premiered last month at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

The 21 year-old, who has more than 500,000 Twitter followers, made a guest appearance in the finale of Sky 1’s Sinbad last year.

Houdini, which premieres at Stoke-on-Trent Repertory Theatre on September 9, tours Britain throughout September and October.

Peter Snee directs the new play, which producers say will feature "breathtaking live stunts".

The stage production was written by BAFTA award-winning actor (‘Risen’) and filmmaker Stuart Brennan and will be produced by Britain's  Theatre Giant company.

Concept artwork has been developed with multi-Oscar winning design studio WETA Workshop whose multiple credits include Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, X-Men and Chronicles of Narnia.

Houdini will be performed at Stoke on Trent Repertory Theatre (September 9-15);  Blackpool Grand Theatre (16-21); Swansea Grand Theatre (24-28); Windsor Theatre Royal (30- October 5); Dublin Gaiety Theatre (October 7-12)
