WHO REMEMBERS this note on the beach last year?
"IT'S BEEN five months since pubs in Ireland closed- not that we're counting or anything..."
There's nothing like a long stroll on the beach to clear your head, but if you're taking that stroll to forget about how you wish you were sitting with your friends in a pub, this particular beach mightn't be the right place for a walk.
A message appeared in the sand on Ballybunion beach, County Kerry yesterday, and though it was very subtle, we think we have an idea what the artist is trying to tell us.
The mysterious-- and absolutely massive-- artwork was spotted by eagle-eyed passerby Annette, who told The Irish Post "I was out for a long walk along the beach and just started thinking how I'd love to take a break and have a drink in a pub, but I wasn't hungry."
"Obviously someone else was having the same thought as me because when I looked down from the cliffs I saw the message- there should have been a sad face next to it!"
"It brought me back to reality some bit but it also made me laugh."
Ballybunion is no stranger to sand art, hosting an annual event which brings unique illustrations to the beautiful strand, but with 2020 being the year that it is, that event was cancelled this year.
Still though, this metres-long message is beautiful in its own way.
Now to forget our troubles with a nice substantial meal in the...
