Dublin illustrator Emma Kenny's eye-catching artwork is a celebrity favourite

DUBLIN illustrator Emma Kenny has described the “surreal” moment when she realised that reality TV star Kim Kardashian shared one of her drawings on social media.

The 31-year-old has a vast online catalogue of work that includes pictures of popular Irish figures UFC fighter Conor McGregor, singer Imelda May, model Georgia Salpa and Facebook phenomenon Cian Twomey.

Her work was given a boost this week when Kim Kardashian reposted one of her drawings on Instagram.

Speaking to The Irish Post, Emma said: “It was absolutely amazing. I was sitting at the computer on Sunday evening working, when my phone started beeping and people were messaging me on Instagram saying that my work had been shared.

“It was surreal, I couldn’t believe it, and I’ve gained so many more followers on Instagram now.”

The former care assistant and lead animator for a game development company has been working as an illustrator for several years, and has provided artwork for Irish beauty blogger Suzanne Jackson.

She said that she uses an app called Pensoul on her tablet device and photo-editing programme Photoshop to create the eye-catching drawings.

“It was since then that interest in my work has grown,” she added. “I’ve also been asked to create birthday invitations and weddings gifts, it’s been fantastic.”
