THERE'S NOW less than one week to go until Christmas, which to the Derry Girls super-fan just means there's less than two weeks to go until the Great British Bake Off special.
All the way back in November, it was announced that the actors behind Sister Michael, James, Clare, Michelle and Erin would be trying their hand at baking in the iconic tent-- without burning it down.
Well, it looks like the tent is still standing, judging by the photos some of the cast have shared recently-- such as Dylan Llewellyn (James) who teased a photo of the Derry Girls on set with presenters Noel Fielding, Sandi Toksvig, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

But if Sister Michael actress and all-round legend Siobhán McSweeney is to be believed, the special doesn't go perfectly smoothly-- she told followers last week that when the show airs on New Years Day, "the entire nation will witness me having a breakdown".
She followed the semi-ominous tweet with a photo of her on set, looking more than slightly alarmed while looking at something in a blender.

Plus, Nicola Coughlan, who plays Clare Devlin, admitted she now has "PTSD when I think about fondant icing" back when she announced the show in November, so take from that what you will.
From what we can tell, the entire cast of Derry Girls are just as savage off-screen as when they're playing the much-loved characters, so even people who have never seen The Great British Bake Off before should enjoy this special episode.
You can catch Siobhán, Dylan, Nicola, Jamie-Lee and Saoirse Monica on The Great Festive Bake Off on New Years Day 2020 at 7.40pm on Channel 4.
