Dermot O'Leary reveals the traditional Irish song he always listens to before going on live TV

PRESENTER Dermot O'Leary has revealed the traditional Irish song he must listen to before going on live television.

Speaking to the Metro's Guilty Pleasures the top presenter unveiled his strict routine before every broadcast.

Superstitious Dermot said he ticks off a list must-dos before appearances including listening to one Irish song in particular.

He said: "There is a certain way of putting my clothes on... But you've got to kid yourself you're not going to have a bad show if you put your socks on before your pants."

He said he also listens to 'a very rigid playlist' before a gig including, surprisingly, The Dubliners' Rocky Road to Dublin.

Speaking before presenting the National Television Awards in London last night, O'Leary also revealed he had to cover up some nasty new scars - courtesy of his new cat.

He and his wife Dee Koppang adopted a new cat in 2017 after the death of their beloved four-year-old moggy Silver last summer.

He told the paper: "I'm getting mauled on a daily basis.

"[The cat] is a nutter. Something clicks, 'Right, I want to fight now,' and he doesn't stop.

"I'm talking to you with a massive scratch across my nose," he told the paper.
