LEGENDARY Donegal singer Daniel O'Donnell caused a stir recently when he took a snap of himself holding a can of fish for his adoring fans on Facebook.
“Not that I’m much of a chef but had this for my lunch today mixed with mayonnaise and red pesto and it was gorgeous,” the 54-year old Irish country superstar wrote, posting a selfie with a tin of canned mackerel fillets.
Since then the post has racked up some 6000 comments from a legion of devotees.
Having taken him up on his recipe, one adoring commenter wrote, “I made your recipe for lunch today. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted, beats boring tuna salad any day!”
Though not everyone took it so seriously.
With just a hint of sarcasm, one commenter remarked that they “must immediately try this fantastic dish,” while another joked that O’Donnell was “living the high life” by treating himself to a tin of mackerel.
It’s been a while since the Donegal icon hit the road, but O’Donnell will be back to business this month when his fastest-ever selling tour of Ireland, the UK and the United States gets going.
