Irish resident Daniel Day-Lewis last night (January 13) won the Best Actor prize at the Golden Globes for his performance in Lincoln.
The big-screen version of hit musical Les Misérables and Ben Affleck’s Argo were among the other big winners on the night.
Les Misérables took the award for Best Picture (Comedy or Musical), with lead stars Hugh Jackman winning Best Actor (Comedy or Musical) and Anne Hathaway scooping the Best Supporting Actress prize.
Argo was named Best Picture (Drama), with Affleck winning Best Director.
Jessica Chastain won Best Actress (Drama) for Zero Dark Thirty, while Jennifer Lawrence won Best Actress (Comedy or Musical) for Silver Linings Playbook.
Christoph Waltz was named Best Supporting Actor for Django Unchained, with the film's director, Quentin Tarantino, taking the award for Best Screenplay.
