SERIAL KILLER PAT PHELAN'S arrival in Ireland after falling off a cliff certainly left a few Corrie fans scratching their heads.
The notorious builder-come-murderer has somehow survived the kicking he suffered from his wife Eileen off a cliff where they were holidaying.
While the pair were arguing underneath the gaze of the lighthouse, Phelan slipped and seemed to fall in before Eileen realised he was clinging to a rope, begging for help.
As he dangled over the surface of the crashing waves hundreds of metres below, he continued to threaten his wife and losing her temper with him, stamped his hands off the grip he was holding.
While many Coronation Street fans (myself included) exhaled a long breath of relief at the surely guaranteed death of Phelan, in true soapbox fashion, the cold-blooded killer survived his fall.
The murdering builder was seen to have somehow made it to Ireland, staying in a B&B as he tends to his wounds.
The ending of the latest episode split opinion among viewers of the long-running soap.

#Corrie No, no, no. You can`t get rid of an arch criminal like #patphelan that easily, and you wouldn`t want to lose an actor like @connor9mcintyre that easily either.
