Cork singer reduces father to tears with spine-tingling performance on 'The Voice'

AN IRISH singer reduced her father to tears on The Voice UK this week with an emotionally charged performance that left Tom Jones similarly spellbound.

Elly O'Keeffe, 31, from Knocknagree in Cork, provided one of the highlights of the weekend with her powerful performance of the Leon Bridges favourite River.

It was enough to see her dad, watching on from the side, welling up with pride.

It was also enough to see three of The Voice UK’s four judges turn around to see more of Elly in action.

Left to choose between Olly Murs, Meghan Trainor and Tom Jones as a mentor for the remainder of the series, it was the Welsh crooner’s glowing assessment of her talents that proved decisive.

"We all think that you've something special and we love what you do and you're coming through loud and clear," Tom Jones told her.

"If you came with me I would do the best that I can for you."

Now living and working as a teacher in London, Elly is hoping that success on The Voice UK could be the first step towards a full-time career as a musician.

If this performance is anything you go by, you wouldn’t put it past her.
