'Conor represents all that's wrong with society' – Former Irish journalist blasts 'bully' McGregor

THE UFC champion has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way with his recent behavior.

Former RTE political correspondent David Davin-Power appeared on RTE’s Cutting Edge programme last night, where he described Ireland’s UFC star and national icon Conor McGregor as a “bully” and said that he “represents all that’s wrong about society post the crash”.

Davin-Power left RTE earlier this year after a long career with the state broadcaster and appeared on last night’s programme with host Brendan O’ Connor as well as Aisling O’Loughlin and Jennifer O’Connell.

Davin-Power’s comments come after McGregor apologised for entering the Octagon, confronting the referee and slapping an official at a UFC event in Dublin on Friday night.

That incident came just two weeks after McGregor apologised on The Late Late Show after he was heard using the term “faggot” in conversation with training partner Artem Lobov after Lobov was defeated at a UFC event in Poland.

The strong words used by Davin-Power sparked quite the polarized debate on the show.
