'It was brutal' – Coleen Nolan reveals she suffered heartbreaking miscarriage with Shane Ritchie

COLEEN Nolan has opened up about suffering a miscarriage during a "bad time" in her marriage to Shane Ritchie.

The Loose Women panelist, 53, lost the baby in 1993 just nine months after the birth of the pair's second son, Jake.

Speaking about her experience on the ITV daytime show today, Coleen said the heartbreaking experience came during a rocky patch with ex-husband Shane amid cheating rumours.

"It was a really bad time for me and Shane because everything was starting and I was like 'Oh, I could really do without this right now'," she said.

"But anyway, be careful what you wish for because at about four or five weeks I started to miscarry.

"Now, obviously, there was an element of 'Ah' because the decision was taken out of my hands but I had to get the doctor around.

"Obviously he knows nothing about me. But he walked in, took a look at me and he said 'Yes, yes, you've lost the baby – go to the doctors tomorrow to get a scrape' and walked out of my house".

She added: "I mean, it was brutal."

Coleen and Shane split up four years later in 1997 before finalising their divorce in 1999.

Mum-of-three Coleen added that she was fortunate not to suffer too much trauma from the earlier miscarriage.

"Luckily I was at the stage where it wasn't a major traumatic time really because the timing of it was wrong," she said.

"But can you imagine a woman that has tried and tried or desperately wanted that baby?

"It's something you have to be so careful about."
