The 57-year-old presenter has given his thoughts on Sharon Ní Bheoláin earning up to €80,000 less than he does.

There are many sights that will make any Irish person feel homesick - things such as Brennan's bread, a box of Lyon's tea or even a picture of your mum. One classic sight that reminds me of being at home watching the news in front of the fire with my parents is the iconic duo that is Sharon Ní Bheoláin and Bryan Dobson.

The pair, who have been presenting the news for years have established themselves as household names however, the hard work both have done over the years to achieve their respective successes does not equal when it comes to receiving their wages.

It was revealed that Dobson earns a cool €195,913 euro, leaving him in the top 10 of best-paid performers in RTÉ, however, his counterpart Ní Bheoláin is nowhere near cashing the same cheques as part of the gender pay gap.

According to Irish Mirrorthe man who has been affectionately nicknamed 'Dobbo' throughout the years claimed he had no idea of the pay gap.

"I don’t decide what I get paid. Firstly, I didn’t know what Sharon earned until it was published.

The RTÉ presenter went on to support Ní Bheoláin, saying she deserved every cent of the same cheque that he currently earns.

"And I certainly don’t see any justification for the disparity between what we earn."

It is not known whether Ní Bheoláin and the national broadcaster have reached an agreement.
