MRS BROWN’S Boys star Brendan O'Carroll must be grinning from ear to ear – as profits in his film production company have tripled in the past 12 months.
The last year has seen Mr O’Carroll’s company Boc Pix Ltd do exceptionally well, with pre-tax profits of €578,886 (£410,000) notched up to date.
The 59-year-old writer and comedian has his infamous character, Dublin mammy Agnes Brown, to thank for the massive leap in profits – as it coincided with the release of 2014’s Mrs Brown’s Boys: D’Movie.
The BBC sitcom has gone from strength to strength since first hitting the screens in 2011, proving to be a hit with both Irish and British audiences.
The success of the series led to the film being produced – which made £4.3million in the box office on its opening weekend alone before going on to become Xtra-Vision’s fastest selling DVD of all time.
Newly-filed accounts show that in the year ending August 2014, the company made €578,886 – up from €156,077 (£110,000) the previous year.
A fourth series of the hugely popular Mrs Brown’s Boys has yet to be confirmed by Mr O’Carroll or the BBC.
