BRENDAN O’Carroll has revealed that he is hoping to buy a stake in David Beckham’s new US soccer team.
The Mrs Brown’s Boys star is based in Florida, where the ex-LA Galaxy player's club will be based, and he is keen to get involved with the franchise and show his support.
Beckham confirmed earlier this year that the new MLS team would be set up in Miami, ready to enter the league in 2017.
"I'm hoping to buy into it. I'd love the US to do well at soccer as it would be so good for the game,” said O’Carroll.
"It used to be a girls' game in America, but interest in soccer has really grown."
He also believes that soccer in America has a long way to go, but that it could achieve great success in the future.
"I’ve always believed if they start playing soccer in the Harlems of America, the rest of the world will have to stand back because they are magnificent athletes and its going to change the game," he added.
Whilst the Irish actor is eager to collaborate with the former England captain in the soccer sphere, he has dismissed any suggestion of a potential comedy partnership, citing Beckham's lack of humour as the reason.
"Beckham is not really funny," explained O’Carroll.
