THE Trip to Birmingham Tradfest returns with a bang this month bringing a “massive celebration” of Irish music and dance to the city.
Just six months after the festival made its impressive debut, the popular event will be back at The Irish Centre’s Leinster Suite in Birmingham on Saturday, May 16.
A host of Irish acts from the city and across Britain are on the line-up for the fundraising event – which will act as a taster for the Birmingham Tradfest 2015 weekend, which takes place from November 26-29.
Former Dubliner Sean Cannon – who now performs with The Dublin Legends – is among the headline acts taking part on the night, while singer-songwriter Aiden O’Brien and local band LAMPA will also perform.
“As well as a big programme featuring some of Birmingham and the UK’s best and brightest Irish music acts, this year’s November festival line-up will be announced for the very first time when the Trip to Birmingham Tradfest returns to The Irish Centre on May 16,” the organisers revealed this week.
The event, which kicks off at 7.30pm on Saturday, May 16, will also feature a performance by Boxtrad - a new group made up of members of a range of existing Birmingham bands.
And the Birmingham Irish ceili band Cairde will be on hand to give revellers a chance to show off their moves, in preparation for a DJ set which will take the evening into the small hours.
Tickets cost £5 on the door. For further information click here
