Billie Eilish's James Bond theme hailed by critics as 'one of the best we've had in some time'

BILLIE EILISH is earning rave reviews for her new James Bond theme, which is being hailed as one of the best of recent times.

Born Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O'Connell, the 18-year-old is the youngster ever singer to record a theme for a 007 movie.

No Time To Die was written with her brother and long-time collaborator Finneas O'Connell.

A dark and brooding ballad that centres on the theme of betrayal, the song was released at 00:00 GMT alongside a new trailer for Daniel Craig’s final 007 outing.

The song has earned positive reviews from the UK press with The Independent’s Roisin O’Connor describing it as "one of the best we've had in some time".

"The flourish of violins, electronic guitar and faint brass all pay tribute to classic Bond theme tropes, but Eilish's subtle synth motif makes this song her own," O'Connor add.

The Guardian’s Alexis Petridis speaks in similarly glowing terms, with Eilish’s effort hailed as "a Bond theme befitting of the Craig era".

“No Time to Die…smartly refracts the Daniel Craig depiction of Bond – dark, solitary and tormented beneath the cool exterior – through Eilish’s signature brand of teen angst.”

The Telegraph’s Neil McCormick meanwhile says Eilish's "downbeat noir is spine-tingling.’

Variety’s Chris Willman rounds off the critical praise describing No Time to Die as “one of the better Bond songs of the last 25 or 30 years”.

The daughter of actress and screenwriter Maggie Baird and actor Patrick O'Connell, Eilish is the third musician of Irish descent to perform a James Bond theme.

She follows on from Chris Cornell’s You Know My Name and Paul McCartney’s Live and Let Die.
