Belfast artist Winnie Ama set for London performance at brand new Fervor Festival

BELFAST STAR Winnie Ama and support artist Ais are set to come to London as part of a brand new multi-arts festival taking place throughout the month of August.

Fervor Festival, co-founded by Irish performer Mark T Cox, will see spoken word, live music, cabaret, queer art and drag performances in south-east London every Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the month.

Winnie Ama will kick off the Fervor Music Fridays, having previously been recognised as a BBC Introducing 2022 'Future Headliner' and 'One to Watch'.

Hailing from a Northern-Irish-Ghanaian background, audience members can expect to be treated to an evening of original jazz/soul inspired electronic alt RnB pop written and performed by Winnie and her band. The performance will also feature original modern arrangements of some jazz standards and contemporary musical masterpiece.

Dublin-born Ais is a rising star with a fresh sound and made her London debut earlier in May. Returning to the Big Smoke as support, she will bring with her the fire on stage with hit tracks ‘Shine On’ and dance anthem, ‘Glitter Gold'.

Co-founders Mark T Cox and Joly Licks said that both acts "are incredible" and that they are sure "they have many fans in the city who would love to see the show."

"We are so honoured to have these fantastic artists perform in London, and we are very keen to fill the room and make them feel very welcome."

Fervor Festival

Fervor Festival is brought to London by producers Joly Licks and Mark T Cox, with the aim of celebrating the amazing creatives that can be found across the city.

Thursdays will see spoken word acts take to the stage, including acclaimed poet and author, Salena Godden, plus performances from Ella the Great, Felix Orlo, and Neelofer Nova.

Friday are for live music, with Midori Jeager and Sweden's very own Stina Wollter in the mix later in the month.

Saturdays will see both matinee shows on 13 and 20 August as well as evening cabaret performances. Expect guests from the London scene, with raucous dance, singing, comedy and everything else in between.

All events will take place at Toulouse Lautrec, Elephant & Castle.

Irish-born Mark T Cox is a performer, producer, host and self-proclaimed international cabaret star! Since landing in London in 2016, Mark has expanded his practice to include curation and production, developing a range of cabaret events across the East End, as well as performing internationally in Belgium, Taiwan, Japan, and of course Ireland.

Joly Licks has been running events since 2019 - inspired by the community of the spoken word scene, founder Fausta Joly set up popular workshop, Sip + Rhyme. From there, she has hosted larger scale events, full of inter-disciplinary performances : The Sane Asylum, The Giving, and more recently, a venture into a cabaret/spoken word cross over: Cushion the Blow. Fervor Festival is something she has been dreaming of for some time and she can’t wait to introduce audiences to exceptional talent in London.
