Ant McPartlin confirms he is six months sober following drink-driving charge

TV host Ant McPartlin has confirmed he has been sober for six months after he was charged with drink-driving in March.

The Saturday Night Takeaway host checked into rehab following the crash, which left a four-year-old needing hospital treatment.

He pleaded guilty in April to drink-driving after it was found he was over twice the legal limit at the time of the incident.

However in a tweet, McPartlin’s friend Simon Hargraeves revealed he had recently met up with the star and that he was now six months sober.

“Immensely proud of this lad for his strength and determination to face up to his issues and get help,” Hargreaves wrote.

McPartlin later shared the tweet via the official Ant and Dec Twitter account, which saw fans congratulate the presenter on his progress.

McPartlin announced in August that he would take a break from presenting until 2019.

Holly Willoughby will replace McPartlin for the upcoming series of I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, taking her place alongside McPartlin’s regular co-host, Declan Donnelly.
