IRISH people are not known for holding their tongues.
We're a nation of storytellers, poets, writers and artists known for our love of language. with many slang words and terms we've coined over the years having mixed meaning or indeed, no meaning at all.
Many people coming to Ireland in a bid to improve their English often look confused and bewildered when they hear the weird and wonderful phrases we Irish come out with - with 'craic', 'dzope' and 'bleedin' deadly' just to name a few.
One word coined by the Irish made an appearance on Countdown just last week - raising smiles and questionable reactions when host Rachel Riley assembled the word that many of us use in the colloquial today.
We've seen many a humourous word pop up on the popular game show in the past but this word holds a special place in my heart and will make anyone think of the gift of the gab so many Irish people have.
Spotted by Twitter user Ryan JL, the formulation of the word 'gobs***e' using 8 letters raised more than a few eyebrows from the cast of the show - and we can only imagine the expressions of the audience members in th studio.
Really appreciate @susie_dent's definition of 'Gobshite' on #Countdown today pic.twitter.com/Ar2CxamPCV

Suzi Dent, long-time member of the show did her best not to laugh at the selection of letters, justifying her use of the word live on air with
"Well, it's vulgar slang so you have to be careful, but it means stupid or ignorant person."
If Suzi thinks the g-word is vulgar, she won't want to visit the streets of Dublin any time soon!
