CHAT UP LINES – cheesy and outdated, or a good way to break the ice?
Love them or hate them, a new survey by Ladbrokes says 66 per cent of the nation has success using chat up lines in order to get a date.
According to the survey, 45 per cent of people in the UK still use chat up lines when trying to get themselves a date, and two thirds say they actually work.
As for who has the best chat, 79 per cent of those living in Northern Ireland say their chat up lines worked. Even though only 37% of Yorkshire folk said they had success with a line.
Leeds was the luckiest in England as the luckiest in love, with a 72 per cent success rate.
The survey also revealed interesting stats about the way we date, what we talk about on a date and the top turns offs for men and women.

When it came to careers, those working in the construction industry had the knack when it came to chat up lines, whereas writers were the most likely to fear awkward silence. , despite their way with words in their working lives.
The majority of people agreed that bad table manners were the main turn-off on a first date, but swearing was the biggest red flag for social workers and those working in finance or civil engineering.
