FILMING has begun for the brand new series of Robot Wars in Glasgow.
The reboot of the programme will be presented by two of well-known Irish faces- comedian and self-confessed geek Dara Ó Briain, and broadcaster and fashionista Angela Scanlon.
The programme has not been shown on BBC Two for over a decade, when it was presented by Red Dwarf and later Coronation Street star Craig Charles.
The BBC has promised that the House Robots returning for the new series including "Sir Killalot", "Matilda", "Shunt" and "Dead Metal" will be “bigger, stronger and more brutal than ever before.”
These robots are descendants of the original show that have “evolved”, ready for a 2016 battle.
Filming of the six-part series is taking place in a brand new purpose-built fighting arena in Glasgow in front of a studio audience.
The new presenters appear to be very excited about the series and funnyman Dara couldn't resist making a little joke on twitter about his new role:
As part of hosting the new Robot Wars on BBC2, I'll also be hosting the coverage of our actual war against the Robots in 2021.

More details about the contestants, the House Robots and when the series will air is to be announced in due course.
