81-year-old Ireland's Got Talent contestant delighted the nation

EVELYN WILLIAMS is one of the first stars of Ireland's Got Talent to make a splash.

The 81-year-old woman auditioned for the panel of Louis Walsh, Michelle Visage, Denise Van Outen and Jason Byrne to showcase her extraordinary singing talents.

The octogenarian sang a beautiful rendition of Send In The Clowns for the judges and audience, leaving viewers at home tearing up at the emotional choice of song.

Tallaght native Williams' performance got such a strong response from the crowd that Visage sent her straight through to the next round.

The Dublin woman dedicated her audition to her late husband, hoping that "he would be very proud of me here tonight".

Her amazing performance was not lost on Ireland's Got Talent viewers at home, who gushed admiration for the 81-year-old singer.
