MY FRIENDS, this is some achievement.
Martin Scorsese's The Irishman was one of the most eagerly anticipated films of the year-- and for good reason.
It has been celebrated by critics and the public alike, and both the film and the individual actors have already been nominated for a number of awards-- not surprising when you consider the cast includes Joe Pesci, Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro, top-tier actors whose careers have spanned decades.
From the minute the film was announced it had people clamouring to find out as much as they could, and with each new teaser trailer, cast reveal or plot leak people were getting even more excited.
Now that The Irishman is finally here, it's obvious that that excitement had never died down, because Netflix has just announced that it has been watched by a whopping 26,404,081 seperate accounts across the world in just the first week alone, a figure is even more impressive when you consider that The Irishman already had a brief run in cinemas across the world.
The streaming giant announced the news on Twitter-- in character, of course-- when they wrote:
"My friends, I’ve got some news from the big guy at the top: THE IRISHMAN was watched by 26,404,081 accounts globally — within its first 7 days on Netflix."

This means 26,404,081 cleared their schedules to watch all 3 hours and 30 minutes of the acclaimed film. And from the sounds of it, it was worth it.
