Irish Post to produce stellar music awards show after exclusive TV distribution deal

Some of Country music’s biggest names will gather in Ireland next week for The Irish Post Country Music Awards 2017.

The evening, which features performances from some of Ireland’s best-known Country and folk artists will be broadcast live on TG4 for the first time.

The Irish Post publisher and owner Elgin Loane said: “We are committed to showcasing the strength, depth and creative talents of the Irish in Britain, Ireland and beyond on a global scale.

"The Country Music Awards continue the momentum of our Irish Post Awards, which take place annually in London and this November celebrate 40 years.”

The Irish Post has secured an exclusive deal with Irish national broadcaster TG4 to produce a two-hour show on TV and online from 9.30pm on Wednesday, August 30.

Production for this year’s Awards, taking place at the Armagh City Hotel, is already underway with rehearsals due to take place from early next week ahead of the live outside broadcast.

More than 14 Country music acts will perform on the night – joined by folk legends The Furey, Mary Coughlan and Frances Black - as the public once again votes for its favourite stars across 11 Award categories including Best Male, Best Female, Best Newcomer, Album of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Live Band and Radio Broadcaster of the Year.

The 2017’s Lifetime Achievement Award will also be presented.

Performers include Cliona Hagan, Hurricane Highway, Louise Morrissey, Lee Matthews, Don Mescall, Foster & Allen, Philomena Begley and many more well-known names.

Country singer Malachi Cush returns to host what promises to be a superb evening alongside popular TG4 presenter Aoife Ní Thuairisg.
