Irish waste management firm reveals exclusive Children in Need-themed skip designed to raise charity funds

A LONDON IRISH waste management firm raised more than £16,000 for Children in Need after creating a special Pudsey themed skip to help fundraise for the charity.

Powerday, an Irish founded family-owned a waste management and recycling business, worked in collaboration with Hill Group, an award-winning, five-star housebuilder, to support the 2021 Children in Need appeal.

Last month the teams at both firms worked hard to decorate a 16-yard skip in Children in Need colours, with Pudsey himself taking centre stage.

Those passing-by the Lampton Parkside housing development in Hounslow, west London, on Thursday, November 18 will have witnessed the exclusive Pudsey skip being delivered to the site.

All proceeds from the skip will be donated to Children in Need, while Hill Group has also pledged to donate an additional £10,000 to the BBC’s charity, with Powerday adding a further £5,000.

In addition to its exclusive Children in Need skip, Powerday’s team also raised more than £1,000 for the charity.

Collectively, staff from the company’s six sites across the capital cycled, ran or walked in excess of 1,000km – led by the company’s Joint Managing Director, Liam Kearney, who covered an incredible 125km on two wheels.

Tara Crossan, Client Relations Lead at Powerday, said of their fundraising efforts: “Children in Need does such an incredible job raising funds to support children across the UK.

“We are proud of all our team who have taken part in the Powerday 1,000km challenge this week and are thankful to Hill Group for their generous donation which has helped us raise over £16,000.

“Our fundraising will help assist 2,500 local charities and projects, which directly support children and young people in communities right across the country.”

Andy Hill, Group Chief Executive at Hill Group, added: “Supporting communities is one of our most important values at Hill.

“Working on this fundraiser with Powerday has been a rewarding experience and we look forward to continuing our support for Children in Need, whose valuable work helps improve the lives of young people living in the UK.”

Children in Need is one of the country’s most recognisable charities.

Its mission is to ensure every child in the UK is safe, happy, secure and has the opportunities they need to reach their potential.

It raises money throughout the year and during its annual November appeal, which is put to work where it’s needed most.
