Irish aviation leaders will consider 'new areas of opportunity' at London event

IRISH influencers from the global aviation industry will come together in London this month to discuss the nation’s impact on the sector internationally.

John Higgins, President of the international aircraft leasing firm Avolon – which has its headquarters in Dublin, will be among the speakers taking part in a panel discussion hosted by the Irish International Business Network (IIBN) at the end of the month.

Avolon – which provides aircraft leasing and lease management services – has an owned and managed fleet of 235 aircraft serving 49 customers in 28 countries, and operates out of its offices in Ireland, the United States, Dubai, Singapore and China.

Higgins will be joined by Patrick Edmunds, Group Strategy Director of the Shannon Group PLC and Managing Director of International Aviation Services, on the panel.

Established in September 2014, the Shannon Group comprises Shannon Airport, Shannon Commercial Properties, Shannon Heritage - one of Ireland’s largest visitor experience operators, complete with six castles and various other visitor attractions - and the International Aviation Services Centre.

Colm Moran of DAA International – which operates both Dublin and Cork airports – will also take part in the discussion, due to take place at The Bloomsbury Hotel in London on Thursday, April 30.

“This will be one of the most significant events to date on the Irish aviation sector - bringing together a panel of Irish people who are major influencers in international aviation,” an IIBN spokesperson told The Irish Post.

“The panel will discuss and debate the opportunities beyond aircraft leasing for Ireland in aviation,” they added, “and consider the expertise within Ireland and encourage new areas of opportunity for Irish businesses in Ireland and overseas, and for inward investment.”

Open to IIBN members, the event - which is sponsored by The Doyle Collection - will kick off at 6pm.
