Fans of Terry Wogan ‘disgusted’ over Daily Star headline 

THERE has been outrage on social media over the Daily Star’s ‘hugely insensitive’ headline marking the death of Irish broadcaster Terry Wogan.

The BBC veteran and Children in Need presenter died on Sunday, January 31, after a short battle with cancer. he tabloid marking his passing with a “Top o’ the Mourning” headline appearing on its front page alongside the 77-year-old’s face.

The headline played on the stereotypical “Top o’ the Morning” phrase, which is considered by many Irish as derisory and clichéd, sparking a flurry of criticism on Twitter, with many lashing out at the newspaper.

Mr Wogan, who presented the BBC Radio 2 breakfast show Wake up to Wogan for over 20 years and was known for his surreal sense of humour released a personally selected compilation CD titled Top of the Morning by various artists in 2002.
