Coronavirus forces casinos in Ireland to close their doors

AS Coronavirus (COVID-19) numbers continue to increase in Ireland, casinos around the country have taken the decision to close their doors to the public for the foreseeable future.

Casinos in Dublin and in other cities in Ireland have stated that due to advice issued by the National Public Health Emergency Team, they have made the decision to close. The Sporting Emporium in Dublin as well as the Macau Sporting Club in Ireland have stated their decision to close. The Sporting Emporium stated on their website:

“Having regard to the developing situation in relation to the spread of the Covid-19 virus and the advice issued in recent days by the National Public Health Emergency Team, a decision has been made to close the Club from Sunday 15th March to Sunday 29th March.”

Lockdown expected

The UK and Ireland are both expected to come under full lockdown like other European nations within the next few weeks. The UK government has spoken of its dissatisfaction with people who are ignoring the advice of self-isolating in order to save lives. However, the World Heath Organisation’s top emergency expert has warned that a full world lockdown still won’t be enough to stop the virus. Of course, casino punters who are self-isolating can still play at online casinos. PlayFrank is one of numerous online casinos which offers the same casino games as any land-based casino. It is expected that UK and Irish online casinos will receive record numbers due to the number of people self-isolating. Other Irish public establishment closures include McDonalds restaurant which will close its doors across Ireland from 7pm tonight (March 23rd).

It is likely that all entertainment buildings in Ireland which are similar to casinos will also be told to shut their doors. A key component towards stopping the spread of COVID-19 is by social distancing from people. Government guidelines state that people should keep a 2m distance between themselves and others at all times.

The French government have given police in France the power to issue fines of 1500 euros and six month community service for citizens who don’t adhere to the governments rules: people are not allowed further than 2km from their homes when exercising and cycling is banned.

If a full lockdown occurs in Ireland, supermarkets will still be open, and you will still be allowed to visit them and get all the supplies that you need.
