Children's app Hopster launches in Ireland

A BRITISH app is set for Irish shores after a successful launch here.

Yesterday marked the first time the children’s app Hopster launches overseas.

The Irish launch concludes a successful year for the British start up, which was named as an App Store Best of 2014 – one of just 52 apps in the millions in the British App Store.

Hopster is aimed at pre-school children, providing an interactive experience combining both fun and education. For €5.99 per month, Irish parents will be able to provide their children with hundreds of episodes of TV shows, which are both educational and entertaining for preschool-aged children.

Since its launch, Hopster has seen more than 200,000 downloads and has recently expanded to smart TVs and set-top boxes.

Following on from this success, the app is ready to tackle the worldwide markets and first stop is Ireland.

“We are really excited about launching in Ireland. We think there's a huge appetite in the territory for Hopster amongst families for their kids to watch and engage with safe and educational content in an ad free environment - and we can't wait to see the response,” Nick Walters, Hopster founder, said.

The Hopster crew has teamed up with Irish children’s animation, Rockabye Island, in a commitment to delivering the best content to preschool children.

“We felt that Ireland was naturally the next place to launch the platform. We think there is a huge appetite in the territory for Hopster amongst families for their kids to watch and engage with safe and educational content in an ad free environment,” Nick said.

While this is the first international launch, Nick has ambitions to take Hopster further afield.

Hopster is available from today on the Irish App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users.
