THIS year's British Irish Chamber of Commerce Annual Conference will focus on ‘Growing Stronger Together.’
The conference is set to take place on Thursday 13 February at The Titanic Centre in Belfast and is sponsored by HSBC.
It is the first seminal business and political event to be held in Northern Ireland since the Haass talks ended in recent weeks.
British Ambassador to Ireland Dominick Chilcott said at the launch: “The flow of goods between Ireland and the UK amounts to €1bn per week.
“The potential for business from deepening alliances is great, and the British Irish Chamber of Commerce Annual Conference is a key date on the business calendar for businesses on both islands.”
The issues on the agenda that will be debated are: the continued growth of Irish and British economies, the opportunities for both and the challenges surrounding access to investment and also the future of Britain in Europe and supporting Northern Ireland’s economic opportunity.
Details of politicians who will be addressing the conference have not yet been revealed, however, last year’s line-up included Irish Energy Minister Pat Rabbitte TD and British Business Secretary Vince Cable MP.
Key business figures who have been confirmed to speak are: Chris Davies of HSBC, Philip Dilley, chairman of ARUP, Anna Malmhake chairman and CEO of Irish Distillers and Jack Golden from CRH.
