CIVIL engineering and construction company Fitzgerald Contractors has returned to profitable growth up to March this year.
The Birmingham-based company, which was founded in 1948 by Tony Malanaphy, was bought last year from parent company Thomas Vale, now part of French group Bouygues.
The contractor has delivered a pre-tax profit of £775,000 and has increased its cash reserves to more than £5m.
Managing Director Nick Coley told Construction Enquirer that Fitzgerald has thrived on the freedom and flexibility that its new ownership structure allowed.
Fitzgerald now has a forward order book of £18million.
Mr Coley said: “Our clients have been extremely supportive throughout this period of change and the financial performance of the company has exceeded all of our expectations.”
