A TRANSATLANTIC jet has been forced into an emergency landing at Shannon Airport.
United Airlines flight UA17 was travelling from London Heathrow to Newark in the US with 216 passengers and crew on board at the time.
The flight crew onboard reported "technical difficulties" due to a pressurisation issue and were cleared to land at Shannon shortly before 2pm.
The Boeing 767-400 plane landed a short time later without any difficulties, according to Joe.ie.
In a statement, a Shannon Airport spokesman said: "A United Airlines flight from London Heathrow to Newark made an unscheduled landing at Shannon Airport today at 13.55 hours due to technical difficulties."
It is yet to be confirmed whether the flight will continue its journey this evening.
