Two people, including 16-year-old boy, die after fishing boat capsizes off Donegal coast

TWO people have died after a fishing boat containing three people capsized at Malin Head in Co. Donegal.

The 15ft vessel set off at midday before getting into trouble this afternoon.

The alarm was raised at around 4.15pm after people on the shore heard calls for help.

A man in his 60s, thought to be from Donegal, was pronounced dead at the scene and has been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital, where a post mortem will take place.

A 16-year-old boy, believed to be from Derry, was airlifted to Altnagelvin Hospital where he was later was pronounced dead.

The third person, a man in his 50s who is also believed to be from Derry, is in a stable condition at Altnagelvin.

The rescue operation was coordinated by Malin Head Coast Guard and involved the coast guard helicopter and two RNLI lifeboats from Lough Swilly.
