Seven raids carried out as part of investigation into brutal Cork murder

SEVEN properties have been raided by gardaí investigating the brutal murder of Mikolaj Wilk in Cork two weeks ago.

Mr Wilk, known to his friends as Nick, died after he and his wife were attacked in their Ballincollig home in the early hours of Sunday, June 10 by a gang of armed men.

Six houses and one business premises were raided by gardaí in greater Cork on Thursday.

Nine vehicles were also seized during the operation, including one from near a car testing centre and one from an underground car park.

The vehicles are being forensically tested by gardaí.

Items including phones and computers were also seized by gardaí.

Mr Wilk, 35, and his wife Elzbeita were rushed to Cork University Hospital after the brutal attack.

Another woman, aged in her 30s, and two children under the age of six, were also in the house at the time of the incident but were unharmed.

Mr Wilk, who was originally from Poland, was pronounced dead shortly after the attack.

His wife has since been released from hospital.

Earlier this week gardaí appealed for a taxi driver, who was in the Waterfall area on the night of the attack, to come forward.

A car the gang fled in was later found burned out at Waterfall, a few miles from Mr Wilk’s house.

Witnesses, or anyone who can assist with the investigation, are asked to contact Gurranabraher Garda Station on 021 4946200, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
