Man arrested over murder of pensioner Rosina Coleman, 85, in her own east London home

A MAN has been arrested over the brutal murder of an 85-year-old woman who was found dead in her own east London home.

Mum-of-two Rosina Coleman, 85, was discovered by a visiting handyman at her house in Ashmour Gardens, Romford at approximately 11.30am on Tuesday.

A post-mortem examination gave the pensioner's cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head and neck, Scotland yard said.

Mrs Coleman, a former seamstress, had lived at her home for a number of decades with her husband Bill before he died about 11 years ago.

Arrest

A 65-year-old man was arrest on suspicion of murder at another address in Romford on Friday.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said he is in custody at an east London police station.

Detective Inspector Paul Considine, who is leading the investigation, said: “Whilst we have made an arrest today, the investigation into Rosina’s murder remains ongoing and I continue to appeal for witnesses.
